SUMMARY:Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham
DESCRIPTION:Having toured together since 1986 to packed concert halls all over the world\, Aly and Phil continue to charm audiences with their stunning music\, and on-stage charisma that defies description.  Witty and humorous banter sits alongside tunes that tug the heartstrings\, and joyous reels and melodies that have feet tapping along at their ever popular concerts. The pair have recorded many highly acclaimed albums in their thirty years together including two ‘Best of ’ collections. \nAly & Phil have won numerous awards including the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – Best Duo Award and have been nominated in the Scottish Traditional Music Awards for ’Live Act of the Year.’ \nAly was a founder member of the ‘Boys of the Lough’ and his passionate fiddle playing has also found its way onto recordings by the likes of Eddi Reader and Richard Thompson. He was responsible for launching ‘The Transatlantic Sessions’ TV series in which both he and Phil continue to feature. Accordion player Phil has been named as one of Scotland’s 25 most influential people and his mastery of the instrument has led to him working with the likes of Mark Knopfler\, James Taylor\, Rosanne Cash and Midge Ure.  Together they are simply the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear.  \n \nThis concert is being held in The Lens – a new 200 capacity venue within and in association with Portsmouth Guildhall. Tickets can only be purchased from the Venue here. \n
