Double the fun\, we are tremendously excited about this one. \nReggae artist Michael Mountain opens the evening and he puts the life he can see from the porch of his remote farm in Viboko into his songs. \n \n  \nGasper Nali plays a Babatoni – a 3 meter\, one-stringed\, home-made bass guitar – with an empty bottle and a stick\, and his cowskin kick drum\, making the most beautiful and catchy original afro-beats possible. \nGasper’s unique style of Kwela music has been featured by CNN and in the documentary ‘Deep Roots Malawi’\, jammed with Joss Stone\, appeared on Wired for Sound – Malawi\, remixed by Aroop Roy for Sol Power Sounds and been played by Iggy Pop on BBC 6! \nHe recorded the video below on the shores of Nkhata Bay in 2010 and quickly went viral\, receiving over 20 million views. \n \nThe melody is upbeat but the lyrics are serious: \n\nPeople\, I want to tell you everything today \nPeople\, I want to tell you everything now \nPeople\, I should tell you everything today \nPeople\, I should tell you everything now \nWhat surprised me\, in the whole of Malawi \nWhat I’ve seen in Nkhata Bay \nSmall children dropping out of school now \nSmall children know men today \nSmall children are married nowadays \nSmall children of 9 years have babies – Mayiwe!\n\nAh-lalala waaah\, Ah-yayaya eeeeh!
