Grupo Lokito

Another great night promoted in association with our friends at African Night Fever, and Yaram Arts:

London-based Grupo Lokito was formed by Latin piano player Sara McGuinness and Congolese singer Jose Hendrix Ndelo. They play an exciting and original blend of Congolese and Cuban music, creating a modern day cocktail of two of the great world musics. The band have performed at clubs and festivals around the UK and completed several UK tours. They released Esengo Ya Ko Bina (The Joy of Dancing) in and are currently working on new material. They’ve also been featured in several world music compilations: Latin Beat, Urban Africa and The Rough Guide to African Street Party.

Audiences revel in the spirit and vibrancy of their live stage performance which gets everyone up on their feet. Expect glorious melodious vocals, soaring guitars, rhythmic grooves and lilting keyboards together with bass, drums and congas.

The Barleycorn Tavern, which is a stone’s throw from the Village Hall, are very kindly offering ticket holders 2 for 1 meals before the concert.
